scope:
Deals with the safety of electric washing machines for household and similar purposes, intended for washing clothes and textiles. Therated voltage is not more than 250 V for single-phase appliances and 480 V for other appliances. It includes washing machines for communal use in blocks of flats and in laundrettes. Washing machines with a spin extraction function must comply with EN 60335-2-4, and with a drying function must comply with EN 60335-2-11. As far as is practicable, this standard deals with the comm9on hazards presented by appliances that are encountered by all persons in houshold and similar environments. However, in general, it does not take into account - children playing with the appliance, - the use of the appliance by very young children and young children, - user maintenance by children, including cleaning the appliance. It is recognized that very vulnerable people may have needs beyond the level addressed in this standard.
