scope:
a) This Def Stan provides basic design and performance criteria for a range of eight General Purpose padlocks which are available as patternised stores items to HM Ships, Submarines and RFAs.
b) By definition, General Purpose padlocks are not 'security' graded and so should not be used in situations where a security (Class 1) or high security (Class 2) padlock is specified.
c) Fleet PSyA should be consulted to identify suitable and approved security and high security padlocks for particular situations.
