Abstract:

In November 2009, United Space Alliance published the "Constellation Launch Control System Operations Assessment Trade Study." This trade study highlighted many current and historical risks in the operation and maintenance of the Launch Processing System (LPS) for the retiring Space Shuttle program.

The primary goal of the document was to reduce program risk by presenting lessons learned from decades of processing experience to the designers of the Constellation Program as considerations in the development of the new Launch Control System (LCS).

The document is a compendium of 30 years of experience with the LPS.
