This Standard applies to civil engineering Miscellaneous Assets owned by LU.
This Standard defines the requirements for Miscellaneous Assets through the following lifecycle stages:
a) Inception and design
b) Construction, installation, testing and commissioning
c) Inspection
d) Analytical Assessment
e) Condition Assessment
f) Maintenance and remedial work
g) Strengthening and Renewal
h) Decommissioning
j) Evidence of compliance
This issue of the standard replaces 1-057 A2.
Purpose
The purpose of this Standard is to define the whole life cycle civil engineering requirements for Miscellaneous Assets. These assets comprise:
a) Roads, Paving and car parks
b) Lighting towers and high mast columns
c) Lighting standards
d) Chimneys - concrete, masonry and metal
e) Water towers
f) Dry Stone Walls (free standing wall)
g) Boundary walls (free standing wall)
h) Non-boundary walls (free standing wall)
j) Cable posts
k) Cable Stiles
l) Load gauges
In defining requirements specifically applicable to Miscellaneous Assets, this Standard complements LU Standard 1-050 (Civil Engineering - Common Requirements) that defines mandatory requirements generally applicable to all Civil Engineering assets including the Miscellaneous Assets.
A supporting Manual of Good Practice G-057 gives guidance and explanation on Miscellaneous Assets.
