Purpose. This Public Works Technical Bulletin (PWTB) transmits the Industrial Water Treatment Procedures handbook. The procedures provide information on the application, selection, procurement and implementation of water treatment procedures and chemicals required to properly operate boiler and cooling systems and maintain the waterside surfaces. The procedures improve maintenance, efficiency, reliability, treatment, system life and safety of boiler and cooling systems. The boiler and cooling systems include steam boilers, hot water boilers, chilled water systems, cooling towers and other industrial systems.

Applicability. This PWTB applies to all U.S. Army Public Works activities responsible for operating and maintaining boiler, cooling tower and HVAC systems.
