MODUK - DEF STAN 02-879: PART 1
Requirements for Copper Alloy Materials in HM Submarines and Surface Ships not in Class Part 1 Sheet, Strip and Plate
|Publication Date:||10 January 2011|
a) This Defence Standard defines the requirements for the manufacture, testing and supply of copper alloy sheet, strip and plate.
b) This Standard covers sheet, strip and plate in the following copper alloys:
1) 70/30 copper-nickel alloy.
2) 90/10 copper-nickel alloy.
3) Aluminium silicon bronze.
5) Nickel aluminium bronze.
c) This Standard replaces five specific alloy Standards for sheet, strip and plate (Def Stan 02-749 Part 1, Def Stan 02-779 Part 1, Def Stan 02-834 Part 1, Def Stan 07-253 Part 1 and Def Stan 02-833 Part 1).
d) General details common to each of the copper alloys covered within this Standard are detailed in the main body of the document. Specific details for the alloys are documented in separate Material Annexes to this Standard. If any conflict occurs then the requirements in the Annex for a particular alloy takes precedence over the general statements in the main body of the document.
e) The following Defence Standards define additional and specific requirements and recommendations for sheet, strip or plate for specific naval uses:
Def Stan 02-329 Requirements for heat exchangers for HM Surface Ships and Submarines
Def Stan 02-330 Requirements for main propulsion plant condensers in nuclear powered submarines
Def Stan 02-862 Fasteners,
Part 3 Non-ferrous fasteners.
Part 5 Non-ferrous fasteners (Submarine First Level Quality Assured).
