This chapter covers the inspection of pipe, tubing, and fittings found in a petroleum refinery and of all types of valves except those controlled by instruments, which are covered in Chapter XV, Instruments and control Equipment. However, many of the methods of inspection described for valves in this chapter are also applicable to valves controlled by instruments and are not repeated in Chapter XV.
