This work instruction applies to all persons working on or near to electrical equipment forming part of the conductor rail equipment (CRE), including cables, conductor rails, track isolating and hook switches and any other conductor rail equipment.

These Work Instructions do not apply to d.c. third rail systems employed on the Northern City Line and in the Liverpool area.

Purpose

This work instruction sets out the requirements for persons working on or near to 3rd rail DC electrified lines to allow them to carry out their duties without risk of danger to themselves or other persons.
