scope:
This standard has been compiled for anyone wish-ing to improve products, processes or other ser-vices by applying the methodical value analysis procedure according to DIN EN 12973. The target group includes all users from all specialist disci-plines. The VDI 2808 series of standards is appli-cable both in small and medium-sized organisa-tional structures and enterprises as well as in large corporations. The standard helps users to achieve reproducible results by means of a structured pro-cedure in the value analysis project and to repre-sent these in a customer-convenient form.
The methods described and recommended for use in this standard are characterised by a limited de-gree of complexity. For better understanding, ap-plication of the standard is described in the form of practical examples. Please refer to standard VDI 2808 Part 2 for more detailed case studies. The evaluations dealt with in this standard are car-ried out as part of both product-related as well as process-related (production and organisational process-related) value analysis projects. These can deal both with new developments as well as exist-ing objects. The standard does not address evalua-tions intending to select a suitable project from a range of possible value analysis projects. This standard only addresses evaluations carried out after the task to be solved has already been defined by the management.
The standard is kept simple and practical and is easily and universally applicable at various levels of detail.
