scope:
Compared with traffic on public roads, traffic on paved and unpaved commercial or industrial roads not open to the public tends to exhibit higher vehicle masses, lower speeds and greater pollution of roads.
This standard describes a computation method, matched specially to these constraints, for a quantified appraisal of diffusive dust emissions due to vehicle movements on paved and unpaved roads not open to the public
The applicability of the method described here is limited to paved roads with fleet masses of up to 38 tonnes when averaged over the assessment period, thus covering the majority of the typical applications. For unpaved roads there are no restrictions with regard to the fleet mass.
This standard does not make possible a definition of emission limits. This standard does not deal with the measurement of diffusive emissions; these are described e.g. in VDI 4285 Part 1 and Part 2. Nor does it deal with emissions from vehicles on public roads, for which see VDI 3782 Part 7. This standard does not deal with engine-related diesel particle
emissions. As regards the latter and trucks, we refer the reader to the Emission Factors Manual (HBEFA) [19]; as regards mobile machinery and equipment, construction vehicles and tractors, to EU Regulation 2016/1628.
