Purpose. Establishes policy on the role of Chaplains as advisors to commands and individuals, and their derivative tasks as command liaisons.
Applicability. This instruction applies throughout the Department of the Navy, including the Coast Guard when operating as a Service in the Navy under reference (a) and to Chaplains serving with the Merchant Marine pursuant to reference (b).
