No single tool can reveal the full story of the condition of a piece of equipment. The inspector must select those tools that, along with his own senses, will result in an adequate examination.
This chapter provides a general outline of the tools available for inspection work. Actual operating instructions are not provided. The appendix to this chapter does match inspection tools and equipment with their most likely or most valuable use.
