This specification covers the general requirements for screw-type lug terminals and conductor splices for solid and stranded copper conductors.
The type designation shall be in the following form, and as specified (see 3.1 and 6.1):
The style is identified by the two-letter symbol "LP" followed by a two-digit number; the letters identify screw-type lug terminals and conductor splices, and the number denotes the slash number of the detail specification covering the particular style. When the slash number is less than 10, the first digit shall be a zero. For example, style "LP01" is covered in Detail Specification MIL-T-55156/1.
The item name is identified by a single letter in accordance with table I. TABLE I. Item name

The identification number refers to the item number appearing on figure 1 of the applicable detail specification (see 1.2.1.1). When the item number is less than 10, the first two digits shall be zeros. For example, "001" refers to item No. 1. When the item No. is 10 to 99, inclusive, the first digit shall be a zero. For example, "010" refers to item No. 10.
