scope:
This standard applies to all Bridges and Structures assets owned by LU.
Note: The particular assets to which it applies are listed and defined in Attachment 11.1 of this document. They are also in the foundation documents - "Asset Definitions Bridges and Structures" in the Asset Condition Reporting standard S1042.
This standard sets out the types and frequencies of the inspections, the various forms to be used for reporting the data resulting from the inspections and the manner in which the forms are to be completed, together with inspection advice on the various assets.
There are other assets not assigned to LU Bridges and Structures, with structural attributes, which may affect the railway. These include:
a) third party owned / maintained "Neighbouring" assets. These are addressed in the Infrastructure protection standard S1023 which requires LU to carry out General Inspections in accordance with this standard.
b) other LU disciplines' assets. These, including any fixings they may have into a structure, remain the responsibility of the owner discipline, though LU Bridges and Structures may be requested to assist. For clarity, an "Asset Ownership Matrix" is maintained with the latest understanding of the assignation of asset responsibilities within LU Asset Operations.
