This standard applies to electric household dishwashers intended to be used in nonhazardous locations in accordance with the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), Part I, C22.1, General Requirements - Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), Part II, C22.2, and the National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA 70, on circuits having a nominal voltage not exceeding 250 V.

This standard applies to both cord-connected appliances and permanently-connected appliances.

This Standard applies to smart-enabled household dishwashers that are intended to receive and respond to communication signals or data relating to power billing rate or demand response, or communication signals from a remote user interface such as a smart phone or computer. See Supplement SB.

This standard applies to household dishwashers generating ozone during normal operation. See Supplement SC.

This standard does not apply to commercial appliances. Commercial appliances are covered under the scope of the Standard for Commercial Dishwashing Machines, CSA C22.2 No. 168, or the Standard for Commercial Dishwashers, UL 921.
