This module applies to the proposers of change and to those undertaking alterations to signalling infrastructure.

Purpose

This module forms part of the Signalling Principles Handbook (SPH: NR/L2/SIG/30009) and is to be read in conjunction with the other modules of the handbook and the reference documentation.

This module describes appropriate facilities to identify and operationally manage occurrences of a train overrunning a limit of movement authority (SPAD).

Operational interventions are defined to apply emergency withdrawal of movement authority of trains which may conflict with the overrunning train to reduce the risk of conflict. Also defined are the facilities to enable the management of the incident following the intervention.
