Qualification testing according to this document is based on DIN EN ISO 9606-1. Since DIN EN ISO 9606-1 only deals with the qualification of fusion welders for joint welding, DIN SPEC 35234 is intended to supplement that standard by including requirements for the qualification of welders for corrosion resistant overlay welding and hardfacing. This applies, in particular, to welding consumables which are not included in Table 2 of DIN EN ISO 9606-1:2017.

Unless otherwise described in the following for overlay welding, DIN EN ISO 9606-1 applies to the qualification of overlay welders without restrictions.
