Road Lighting Calculations
|Publication Date:||1 January 2019|
This report is a revision and update of CIE 140-2000 Road Lighting Calculations. It provides methods of calculating the lighting quantities given in the recommendations of CIE 115:2010 (CIE 2010) and CIE 136-2000 (CIE 2000).
The report includes methods for calculation of luminance and illuminance required for the design of road lighting and lighting for pedestrians and cyclists. The report introduces up-todate conventions for the location of calculation grid points and observer positions. Linear interpolation is specified for the calculation of luminous intensity values from I-tables and reduced luminance coefficient values from r-tables.
Mathematical conventions used in this document should be considered as simplification of a real environment, suitable to obtain results with a practical level of accuracy. The report gives no rules for selection of input data and assessment of their accuracy. Test data are provided in electronic form in addition to this report in order to enable verification of the calculated lighting quality values by means of computer programs.
The threshold increment formula has been corrected in this report; the surround ratio criterion was examined in detail and has been replaced with the "edge illuminance ratio" criterion. Grammatical errors have been corrected and quantity symbols have been updated on the basis of recent CIE reports.
