This document covers:
a) the acceptance criteria for railway crossings covering product and process for all crossings to be installed on Network Rail infrastructure;
b) the production process for cast Austenitic Manganese Steel products; and
c) crossing fatigue life evaluation and structural integrity.
It applies to both cast AMS and non-cast AMS crossings. Table 1 outlines the modules covered as part of this document.
Purpose
The purpose of this document is to define the product specification and requirements that control safety and performance risks associated with cast Austenitic Manganese Steel crossings. Compliance with this specification supports mitigation of the risks associated with in-service failure of cast crossing components.
