a) This Defence Standard defines the requirements for the manufacture, testing and supply of copper-nickel-chromium alloy (CuNiCr) forgings, forging stock, rods and sections.

b) This Standard is a Category 1 Maritime Defence Standard.

c) Wrought copper-nickel-chromium to this Defence Standard has been developed initially to be an alternative to cast CuNiCr (Def Stan 02-824), cast Nickel Aluminium Bronze (NAB) (Def Stan 02-747 Parts 2 and 4) and wrought NAB (Def Stan 02-833 Part 2) depending on application. It may also be an alternative copper alloy to replace products to Defence Standard 02-879 Part 2 which covers other copper alloy forgings, forging stock, rods and sections. See Annex A.
