Introduction
Note: Nothing in this standard supercedes applicable laws and regulations.
Note: In the event of conflict between the English and domestic language, the English language shall take precedence.
Purpose. The arrangement of the various sub-assemblies should produce qualitatively high-grade, homogeneous appearance with regard to overall impression, luminance and color.
Applicability. This standard applies to GM Global A architecture and beyond. This specification applies to interior illuminated parts and components, mainly controls, displays and ambient lights.
The scope is to specify the characteristics and performance of illumination: Target and allowed tolerances for color, intensity and intensity uniformity to ensure good visual harmony, quality of appearance and good readability in different ambient lighting conditions.
This specification is valid for incandescent light sources as well as Light Emitting Diode (LED), Vacuum Fluorescent Display (VFD), Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp (CCFL), etc.
Out of scope is:
• Optical characteristics and performance of graphical displays. These requirements can be found in GMW15327. The nominal color specification of monochrome displays text and graphics is, however, included into this specification.
• Non-illuminated daytime colors.
• Use of different colors for different functions and parts. These requirements are found in Color and Trim Design Appearance Requirement (CTDAR), Graphic Lighting Appearance Document (GLAD), Human Machine Interface (HMI) guidelines and Component Technical Specification (CTS).
Remarks. All illuminated elements shall have been clearly categorized on the GLAD according to the categories in 3.7.2.
