Introduction
Note: Nothing in this standard supercedes applicable laws and regulations.
Note: In the event of conflict between the English and domestic language, the English language shall take precedence.
Purpose. The purpose of this procedure is to define and standardize the test methodology for evaluating water management capability of an Air Inlet Panel (AIP) system.
Applicability. This document is applicable for all car, Multipurpose Passenger Vehicle (MPV), and truck models produced by General Motors.
Remarks. This procedure shall be used to ensure that an AIP system deflects and manages water away from components per AIP Subsystem Technical Specification (SSTS) requirements. The AIP is aesthetically designed for closeout appearance but functionally deflects water away from plenum, shields the Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Body Air Inlet (BAI), protects the windshield wiper motor from direct contact, and helps manage water from getting to underhood components.
