Purpose. This specification establishes the technical requirements for Power and Signal Distribution Systems (PSDS) Channels, for all General Motors passenger cars and light-duty trucks. The functions, performance, design constraints, design guidelines and validation requirements of PSDS Channels are defined in this specification.

Applicability. This specification covers all injection and extruded plastic Channels which provide routing, retention and packaging aid for wire harness assembly in the vehicle.

Remarks. This specification covers both General Motors Vehicle Partitioning and Product Structure (VPPS) 861.23 Wire Harness Channel/Cover/Sleeve/Shield/Protector and 865.19 Battery Cable Channel/Cover/Sleeve/Shield/Protector.
