Purpose.

The purpose of the Undergraduate Flying Training Selection Board is to select individuals whose previous experience and qualifications merit assignment to the rated specialties of Pilot, Remotely Piloted Aircraft Pilot, Combat Systems Officer, and Air Battle Manager.

The purpose of the United States Air Force Astronaut Nomination Program is to ensure Air Force members have the opportunity to compete for NASA crew positions. Upon nomination, members compete with representatives from the other services for the chance to become an astronaut candidate and serve with the NASA.
