scope:
This standard applies to:
a) all LU operational staff
b) all LU asset, engineering and project staff
c) staff from suppliers, contractors and other third parties working on LU infrastructure.
The contents of the standard apply to the above groups when using operational communications whilst performing any role associated with:
a) the operation of the railway
b) maintenance or engineering work on the railway.
Purpose
The purpose of this document is to detail:
a) the required standards for operational communications when working on the London Underground (LU) network and where LU operates trains over and adjacent to the national rail network, including interfaces with both Train Operating Companies and Network Rail
b) the requirements for monitoring operational communications to check whether those standards are being met.
Note: The content of London Underground Rule Book 1 and this Standard are designed to raise the quality of operational communications across the business for both LU staff and staff from suppliers, contractors and other third parties.
