Purpose.

This standard specifies the haptic characteristics, performance and validation procedure for interior switches and controls, including push buttons, rockers, rotary knobs, stalks, etc. Compliance to this standard will help ensure a high level of interior control harmony and customer perception of high quality for the controls in a vehicle. Haptic approval is part of the Touch, Appearance, Lighting and Color (TALC) Specifications for Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
