Purpose.

This specification establishes the technical requirements for Hard Trim subsystems for General Motors vehicles. The technical requirements for the Hard Trim subsystem's product characteristics, both functional and physical are defined in this document along with interface, reliability, design, and construction requirements. Also, the requirements for validation of the Hard Trim subsystem to the technical requirements are identified.

Certain paragraphs are broad in scope because this document must cover many different constructions, design concepts, and content levels to meet the needs for the full range of GM vehicles. The user must follow the specific Vehicle Technical Specification (VTS) when developing the actual specification. Those portions of this template that are not applicable because of the described variations are to be omitted or revised to fit the exact needs for the Hard Trim under consideration.
