Civilian Weather Career Field
|Publication Date:||25 September 2018|
This Education and Training Plan outlines professional and technical training available to civil servants in the Weather Career Field. It is intended to assist in developing weather civilians who have the required knowledge, skills, and experience to execute meteorological programs and support to USAF and US Army missions and national security program objectives. This training plan is a tool for commanders, supervisors, mentors, training managers, and Weather Career Field team members to find resources for education, training, and assignment experiences necessary to meet civilian training and developmental needs. Commanders and supervisors are encouraged to use this plan to help broaden the knowledge, experience, and skills of their assigned civilian personnel as they progress throughout their career. For purposes of this plan, training is divided into two distinct areas: 1) Professional Development Opportunities and 2) Technical Training Opportunities. Professional development opportunities are focused on providing formal education focused primarily on building leadership and management skills and experience. Technical training builds on foundational weather career field knowledge and occurs over the course of a career. This document applies to all civil servants assigned to the Weather Career Field. This CETP:
Serves as a management tool to help plan and manage effective training programs for assigned GS (and equivalent) civilian personnel.
