scope:

This module covers:

 a) design requirements for structural expansion joints;

 b) configuration options for structural expansion joints; and

 c) installation requirements for structural expansion joints.

This standard applies to those who specify, design and install structural expansion joints.

NOTE: The decision to use a structural expansion joint will be determined by the requirements for track design relating to structure/track interface in NR/L2/TRK/2102.

Purpose

The purpose of this module is to provide requirements and guidance on the design and installation of structural expansion joints on Network Rail infrastructure to control primarily the risk around the track system buckling.
