| Organization: | ACGIH |
| Publication Date: | 1 January 2009 |
| Status: | active |
scope:
This monograph will be included in a future ACGIH® Signature Publication that will be entitled: Air Sampling Technologies: Principles and Applications. Principles and Applications. It informs those with an interest in airborne biological particles of recent developments in both analytical techniques and bioaerosol sampling equipment. New immuno- and genomic assays that have expanded our analytical abilities are explained. Newer disposable cassette impactors (for direct microscopic analysis), electrostatic precipitator samplers, as well as bio-defense instruments, are described. The advantages and limitations of surface sampling techniques such as swabs and tape-lifts are also discussed. Field technicians, analytical laboratories, building managers, and other indoor-air practitioners will all find useful information in this update on bioaerosol sampling
