This Standard specifies safety requirements for a crawler driven machinery shovel (hereafter referred to as "cable excavator").
This Standard collectively applies the general requirements of JIS A 8340-1, however, where they deviate from the requirements of this Standard, the requirements of this Standard take precedence.
The typical models to which this Standard is applied are shown in Annex A for reference.
This Standard considers all significant hazards (see Annex B and Annex 1 of JIS A 8340-1) directly associated with cable excavators when used under the condition the manufacturer intended and forecasted, and shows practical measures to remove and/or reduce the risks that can be generated by them.
