This method covers the spectrophotometric determination of urea in butylated urea-formaldehyde resin solutions and in mixtures of such urea and melamine resins. It is sensitive to temperature, pH, and amount and type of solvent present. Exact volumes and time intervals must be followed carefully as described.
NOTE1-For the determination of the melamine content of such resins, refer to ASTM Method D 1597, Test for Melamine Content of Nitrogen Resins.2
