This specification sets forth the requirement for a Display Enhancement Unit (DEU) for use with the Airport Surface Detection Equipment (ASDE-2) system. The Display Enhancement Unit will provide a boundary outline of the runway, taxiway and ramp areas, and supress or eliminate radar returns outside of these areas. The result is to enable the controllers to distinguish more readily aircraft and other surface vehicles from background clutter.
