1. SCOPE
These specifications cover the basic requirements for a proprietary corrosion resistant protective coating which is produced by the application of an inorganic aluminum filled basecoat followed by an organic or inorganic topcoat. The basecoat is a water dilutable aluminum filled chromate/phosphate compound which requires an oven baking cycle to produce cure. The topcoat is one of two types, either a fluorocarbon modified silicone type when service temperatures are not expected to exceed 230 °C or an inorganic chromate/phosphate topcoat for applications where temperatures exceed 230 °C and may approach 645 °C. The topcoats are applied only over the basecoat and are not intended to be applied directly to bare substrate.
