Dieser Teil der IEC 61300 beschreibt die Prüfung zur Feststellung, ob ein Lichtwellenleiterbauteil geeignet ist, anhaltend niedriger Temperatur (Kälte) standzuhalten, die im Betrieb, bei Lagerung und/oder beim Transport auftreten kann. Das Verfahren bewertet nicht die Fähigkeit eines Bauteils, Temperaturänderungen im Betrieb standzuhalten; für diese Prüfung sollte IEC 61300-2-22 angewandt werden.
