|Publication Date:||1 January 2012|
This standard shall establish the minimum requirements for fire and explosion prevention and protection of industrial, commercial, or institutional facilities that process wood or manufacture wood products, using wood or other cellulosic fiber as a substitute for or additive to wood fiber, and that process wood, creating wood chips, particles, or dust.

This standard shall apply to woodworking operations that occupy areas of more than 465 m2 (5000 ft2) or where dustproducing equipment requires an aggregate dust collection flow rate of more than 2549 m3/hr (1500 ft3/min).
Purpose. The purpose of this standard shall be to provide minimum requirements, with due function, for the design, operation, and maintenance of woodworking and wood processing facilities for the safety to life, property protection, and mission continuity from fire and explosion.
