Purpose
The purpose of Allied Administrative Publication (AAP)-47 Allied Joint Doctrine Development is to establish, describe and recognize formal procedures for the development of Allied joint doctrine and the standardization of the Allied Joint Doctrine Development Process as directed in the references. The procedures and methods described supplement existing documents associated with this process, as appropriate.
The document covers the development of Allied Joint Publications (AJPs) depicted as Level 1 (Capstone and Keystone) and Level 2 publications on the Allied Joint Doctrine Hierarchy (AJDH) (See Annex A). Only those publications approved by the Tasking Authorities (TAs), agreed by the Military Committee Joint Standardization Board (MCJSB), are referred to as 'Allied Joint Publications'. They are developed in coordination with the nations, Allied Command Operations (ACO), Allied Command Transformation (ACT), and their subordinate commands and entities, NATO accredited Centres of Excellence (COEs) and other NATO Military Bodies.
This publication provides detailed guidance for use by the doctrine Community of Interest (COI) to standardize the development process. The roles and functions of the Working Groups (WGs), their chairs, publication custodians and authors are also discussed.
