This Standard describes fundamental ergonomics principles and defines basic ergonomics terms and describes concepts. These are relevant to the design and evaluation of tasks, jobs, products, systems, services and environments in order to make them compatible with the needs, abilities and limitations of people. This Standard provides information to optimise system performance, effectiveness, efficiency, reliability and availability whilst safeguarding the safety, health and well-being of the worker (or user). The intended users of this Standard are designers, ergonomists and project managers; as well as managers and workers (or their representatives). It also serves as a reference standard for standards writers dealing with ergonomics aspects. This Standard is an ""entry-point"" to other, more detailed ergonomics standards.
