Standard Specification for General Requirements for Wrought Copper and Copper-Alloy Rod, Bar, and Shapes

This specification2 covers a group of general requirements common to several wrought product specifications. Unless otherwise specified in the purchase order or in an individual specification, these general requirements shall apply to copper and copper-alloy rod, bar, and shapes.
NOTE 1-Requirements for flat wire (defined) as flat product up to and including 0.188 in (4.78 mm) in thickness and up to 1¼ in. (31.8 mm) in width, with all surfaces rolled or drawn without having been slit, sheared or sawed including square, furnished in coils or strength, lengths or on spools reels, or bucks are covered.
NOTE 2-Requirements for rolled bar as defined in 2.1.4 of ASTM Specification B 248, General Requirements for Wrought Copper and Copper-Alloy Plate, Sheet, Strip, and Rolled Bar,3 are covered.
NOTE 3-The values stated in U.S. customary units are to be regarded as the standard. The metric equivalents of U.S. customary units given in the body of the standard and in the appendix may be approximate.
