Foreword

This European Standard, based on the International Standard IEC 61-1 : 1969 + supplements A : 1970 to N : 1992 along with common modifications, was prepared by CENELEC Technical Committee TC 34Z, Luminaires and associated equipment.

NOTE. IEC 61-1 : 1969 + supplements A: 1970 to K : 1983 were published as a consolidated edition.

It was submitted to the CENELEC Unique Acceptance Procedure (UAP) in May 1992 and was approved by CENELEC as EN 60061-1 on 9 March 1993.

This European Standard supersedes HD 65.1 SI : 1978.

The following dates were fixed:

- latest date of publication of an identical national standard (dop) 1994-03-01

- latest date of withdrawal of conflicting national standards (dow) 1994-03-01

For products which have complied with HD 65.1 SI : 1978 before 1994-03-01, as shown by the manufacturer or by a certification body, this previous standard may continue to apply for production until 1999-03-01.

Attention is drawn to the fact that lamp caps and lampholders with designation P29t, PY43d and PZ43t [standard sheets 7004-66, 7004-88, 7004-89, 7005-66, 7005-88, 7005-89, 7006-88, 7006-88A and 7006-89] are not listed in ECE Regulation 37.
