INTRODUCTION

This document specifies the minimum requirements for a data transmission system, using time division multiplex techniques, when use for remote control purposes in railway signaling applications

The system will be used to transmit control functions from the office to field station/s, and to transmit indications form the field station/s to the office. For the purposes of definition a Remote Control system, in its simplest from, shall be considered to consist of a control channel and an indication channel. The use of multistation techniques and duplication of systems will add to the complexity but will not alter the basic definition. Specific requirements will be given in the appendix to this specification. The office and field station/s contain safety signaling interlocking equipment, the integrity of which is not in any way dependent on the integrity of the transmission system. However, the expeditious operation of rail traffic demands a system with high availability
