This specification applies to all track construction and renewal. For the purposes of this specification "renewal" includes all track relaying or rerailing, but not like-for-like maintenance replacement of individual components.
The specification includes requirements for the raising of speed and/or tonnage on existing track.
PURPOSE
This specification gives the minimum standards for the construction of new or relaid track, in terms of materials to be used, ballast depths, ballast shoulder profiles and sleeper spacing. It also sets out acceptance criteria for new or relaid track in terms of workmanship and geometry.
