These procedures apply to the approval, maintenance, issue and use of Network Rail Code of Practice RT/CE/C/008 - "Model Clauses for Specifying Civil Engineering Works", herein referred to as the 'Model Clauses'.

The group of Company Standards for the Management of Structures Works is shown in Appendix B of RT/CE/P/044. Within this Specification, references to Specifications within the group of Standards for the Management of Structures Works are made in relation to the Structure Categories, or group of Specifications for Project Management, i.e. SW(A) to (H) and the Volume number, as well as the Network Rail Company Standard number.

Purpose

The purpose of this Specification is to define the requirements for the production and use of the Model Clauses for Specifying Civil Engineering Works, so that when they are used within Technical Workscopes in Network Rail's contracts, they comply with Railway Group Standards, Network Rail Standards and industry good practice.

The contract specifications produced shall, as a result:

(a) contain all necessary technical requirements for quality, buildability, maintainability, serviceability and decommissioning;

(b) be consistent in format and content, and;

(c) be able to be produced without undue time and effort.

This Specification contains requirements supplementary to Network Rail Company Standard RT/CE/P/044 - "Managing Structures Works", in respect of the scope of this Specification. Compliance with this Specification, and with other documents referenced herein, will ensure compliance with RT/CE/P/044 in respect of the management of structures in the scope of this Specification.
