The specification applies to the testing of all rails in Railtrack owned permanent way. It does not cover the detection of defects in alumino-thermic welds or cast crossings.
PURPOSE
This document defines the performance specification for the non-destructive testing of normal (pearlitic) rail and is expressed in terms of defect size thresholds and their probabilities of detection.
