Purpose
a. To establish a Department of the Navy (DON) trademark and licensing program and policy, through program offices in the Office of Naval Research (ONR) and the Office of the Commandant of the Marine Corps (CMC), for the establishment, registration, use, enforcement, and licensing of Navy and the United States Marine Corps (USMC) indicators and trademarks.
b. This instruction has been substantially revised and should be reviewed in its entirety. Definitions as applied in this directive may be found in enclosure (1).
