Purpose:
In accordance with the authority in DoD Directive 5134.01, the July 13, 2018 Deputy Secretary of Defense Memorandum, and Part 219 of Title 32, Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), also known and referred to in this issuance as "the Common Rule," this issuance establishes policy, assigns responsibilities, and provides procedures for the protection of human subjects and adherence to ethical standards in DoD-conducted and supported research.
