This guidance should be used by all those engaged in all stages of the specification, design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of all areas of the LU's main line safety signalling systems.

It is not the purpose of this document to describe, in technology-specific terms, how the philosophy is to be met. Reference should be made to the signalling specifications and to relevant LU standards for detailed requirements for the works to be undertaken.

Purpose

This document is intended to provide guidance in defining the underlying philosophy that will need to be adopted in relation to the life cycle of safety signalling systems to London Underground (LU).

Note: This guidance and G0195A supplement the LU standard S1195 'Signalling - Functional Requirements'.
