This specification prescribes the performance requirements and identifies the verification procedures for the Cartridge, Caliber .50, Short Range Training, Ball, M1183 & Cartridge, Caliber .50, Short Range Training, Tracer, M1209. These rounds are commonly referred to as Short Range Training Ammunition (SRTA). For the rest of this document both rounds will be referenced as SRTA and each single round by its model number. All requirements in this specification apply to both M1183 and M1209 rounds, unless otherwise noted.
