Network Rail can mandate the application of all or part of a RIS (formerly known as Railway Group Standards) in Network Rail standards or control documents, and/or in Network Rail contracts. The list of affected RISs and the status of each in Network Rail is here. Variations to RISs that Network Rail decides to mandate are managed in accordance with NR/L2/CSG/STP001/04 - Managing variations to Network Rail Standards and control documents and Railway Group Standards.
