This IGC covers the test methods and performance requirements applicable for freeze protection devices with test cocks. These devices are intended to provide intermittent freeze protection and not as winterization devices for cold weather climates.
PURPOSE
The purpose of this IGC is to establish an acceptable minimum standard for freeze protection valves. Its purpose is to serve as a guide for producers, distributors, architects, engineers, contractors, installers, inspectors, and users; to promote understanding regarding materials, manufacture and installation; and to provide for identifying freeze protection valves that conform with this IGC.
The provisions of this IGC are not intended to prevent the use of any alternate material, or method of construction, provided any such alternate meets or exceeds the intent of this IGC.
